Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) always promotes and expands international cooperation in many fields. CTUMP has signed cooperation agreements with more than 30 universities, colleges, institutions, and organizations all over the world.  The university’s international cooperation includes the main activities:

1. Cooperation in education and training

• Support and create favorable conditions for international delegations to visit, exchange education, research, and study at CTUMP.

• CTUMP’s staff have actively attended overseas seminars, conferences, scientific meetings and so on. Many staff are currently studying Master and PhD programs in foreign countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Thailand, Taiwan, etc.

    CTUMP also provides many short-term and summer courses on many subjects related to medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, public health, nursing, and other health sciences for international students.

2. Cooperation in scientific research

• Cooperate with some international universities, institutions in conducting research studies on medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, public health, nursing, and also some basic sciences supporting healthcare such as chemistry, physics, genetics, and molecular biology.

• Encourage CTUMP’s staff to cooperate with foreign partners and scientists to develop scientific and technological activities with international standards. CTUMP’s laboratories are equipped with many high-tech machines and equipment. Some modern laboratories can be named as molecular biology, pathophysiology – immune, and pharmacy.

• Organize scientific conferences, meetings, and workshops with the presence of international experts in a variety of topics from basic sciences to clinical applications.

• Coordinate to host large-scale conferences with the participation of international delegates such as:

  • The 12^th Annual Meeting of the Urology & Nephrology Association of Ho Chi Minh City (26-28 July 2018);

  • The 12^th National Physiology Conference (1 December 2018);

• International Scientific Conference on Medicine and Pharmacy Celebrating the 40-year Anniversary of Construction and Development of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (expected December 2019).

3. Cooperation in providing healthcare services and charities

·        Cooperate with international volunteers to screen and perform surgery free of charge for children with congenital malformations. Up to now, over 500 children were operated and monitored for treatment.

·        Organize many medical outreach visits with medical examination and supplying free medications to thousands of poor people in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

·        Host many talk-show sessions providing advice and knowledge about parenting, mental health, hygiene, nutrition, first aid, etc.
