KHOA Y TIẾP ĐÓN VÀ LÀM VIỆC VỚI ĐOÀN SINH VIÊN ĐẠI HỌC BANG MISSISSIPPI

Trong các ngày từ 16/12 đến 19/12, Khoa Y – Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ đã tiếp đón và làm việc với Đoàn sinh viên đến từ Đại học Bang Mississippi, Hoa Kỳ, với cầu nối là tổ chức Global Engagement Institute (GEI), trong khuôn khổ chương trình khám bệnh và cấp phát thuốc miễn phí cho người dân tại Thành phố Cần Thơ.

Đoàn Đại học Bang Mississippi, Hoa Kỳ gồm 20 sinh viên và 02 giảng viên cùng với 03 điều phối viên đến từ GEI Việt Nam và Thái Lan. Tiếp đón và làm việc với Đoàn có PGS.TS.BS Trần Thái Thanh Tâm - Phó Chủ nhiệm Khoa Y và TS.BS.Trần Nguyễn Trọng Phú - Trợ lý Quan hệ Đối ngoại Khoa Y cùng các thành viên Câu lạc bộ Anh văn chuyên ngành khoa Y - MESC.

Chiều ngày 16/12, Đoàn đến Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ tham quan cơ sở vật chất, đồng thời tham gia buổi định hướng, trao đổi và thống nhất kế hoạch triển khai công tác khám bệnh, cấp phát thuốc trong những ngày tiếp theo.

Trong các ngày 17/12, 18/12 và 19/12, Khoa Y và Đoàn đã tổ chức khám, tư vấn sức khỏe và cấp phát thuốc miễn phí cho người dân tại Trạm Y tế xã Phong Điền (xã Giai Xuân cũ), Trạm Y tế xã Phong Điền (xã Tân Thới cũ) và xã Trường Long, Thành phố Cần Thơ. Hoạt động nhận được sự hỗ trợ tích cực và phối hợp chặt chẽ từ các sinh viên Khoa Y, Câu lạc bộ Anh văn chuyên ngành khoa Y - MESC, cùng đội ngũ bác sĩ, điều dưỡng, dược sĩ Bệnh viện Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ và nhân viên y tế tại các Trạm Y tế tại địa phương. Chương trình đã góp phần nâng cao chất lượng chăm sóc sức khỏe cộng đồng, đồng thời tạo cơ hội để sinh viên rèn luyện kỹ năng chuyên môn, giao tiếp và làm việc trong môi trường y tế quốc tế.

Trong ba ngày hoạt động tại các trạm y tế địa phương, các sinh viên Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ phối hợp cùng Đoàn Mississippi State University - GEI đã tiến hành thăm khám, tư vấn sức khỏe và hỗ trợ điều trị ban đầu cho hơn 320 người dân. Kết quả này không chỉ nhấn mạnh khối lượng công việc lớn mà các bạn đã đảm nhiệm, mà còn cho thấy sự quan tâm, tin tưởng của người dân đối với hoạt động chăm sóc sức khỏe cộng đồng do đoàn triển khai.

Chương trình hợp tác giữa Khoa Y – Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ và Đoàn Mississippi State University - GEI (Hoa Kỳ) đã diễn ra thành công tốt đẹp, mang lại giá trị thiết thực cho cộng đồng, góp phần thúc đẩy giao lưu học thuật, hợp tác quốc tế, và mở ra nhiều cơ hội hợp tác bền vững trong đào tạo và chăm sóc sức khỏe trong thời gian tới.

FACULTY OF MEDICINE WELCOMES THE STUDENTS FROM MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY

From December 16 to December 19, the Faculty of Medicine – Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy welcomed the Mississippi State University delegation from the United States as part of a program providing free medical examinations and medication distribution for residents in Can Tho City.

The delegation consisted of 20 students and 02 faculty members from Mississippi State University, along with 02 Vietnamese and 01 Thai coordinators from the Global Engagement Institute (GEI). Representatives of the Faculty of Medicine, including Assoc. Prof. Tran Thai Thanh Tam, MD. PhD - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Tran Nguyen Trong Phu, MD, PhD - Assistant of International Relations, Office of the Faculty of Medicine, and members of the Medical English Speaking Club (MESC), attended and worked with the delegation.

On the afternoon of December 16, the delegation visited Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to tour the university’s facilities and participate in an orientation session. During this session, both sides discussed and finalized plans for the medical examination and medication distribution activities scheduled for the following days.

On December 17, 18, and 19, the GEI delegation collaborated in organizing free medical check-ups, health consultations, and medication distribution for local residents at Phong Dien Commune Health Station (former Giai Xuan Commune), Phong Dien Commune Health Station (former Tan Thoi Commune), and Truong Long Commune, Can Tho City. These activities received strong support and close coordination from students of the Faculty of Medicine, the CTUMP Medical English Speaking Club (MESC), as well as physicians, nurses, and pharmacists from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and the respective local health stations. The program contributed to improving community healthcare services, while also providing valuable opportunities for students to enhance their professional skills, communication abilities, and experience working in an international medical environment.

Over the course of three days at local health stations, students from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Mississippi State University-GEI delegation, provided medical examinations, health consultations, and initial care for more than 320 residents. This figure not only reflects the substantial amount of work undertaken by the team, but also demonstrates the community’s trust and strong interest in the public health activities carried out during the program.

Overall, the cooperation program between the Faculty of Medicine – Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Mississippi State University-GEI, United States, was conducted successfully, delivering practical benefits to the community, promoting academic exchange and international cooperation, and opening up new opportunities for sustainable collaboration in medical education and healthcare in the future.
