Faculty of Pharmacy, CTUMP, is the leading institution of pharmacy in the Mekong Delta and has grown into a regional training hub, meeting society’s demand for both the quantity and quality of the pharmaceutical workforce in the Mekong Delta and beyond.

Faculty of pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP), was established in 2002 on the basis of the former Department of Pharmacology under the joint department of Biology–Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine-Dentistry-Pharmacy at Can Tho University.

Research & Publications

- Our faculty are focusing on research and publication: Between 2020 and 2025, ten projects have been completed or are underway, including two at the national level and eight at the provincial or ministerial level. From 2023 to 2025, eleven papers were published in journals with an IF greater than 4.0.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

- Faculty of Pharmacy continously expand its international collaboration with partners from Thailand (Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University), Indonesia, Cambodia, Taiwan (Taipei medical University), Korea, Netherland, Belgium, USA… in scientific research, education, international conference and student exchange.

Teaching activities and supervision of students conducting research projects

INDUSTRY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

- Faculty of Pharmacy has been establishing strong collaborations with many pharmaceutical companies in Viet Nam including Ho Chi Minh City Drug Quality Control Institute, DHG, Imexpharm, Alpha Lab, TAKA which promote the academic-industry cooperation as well as helps students stay in line with advanced, practical professional skills.

      - On 10 September 2025, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, welcomed a delegation from the Vietnam Institute – The University of Sydney. The two sides signed a cooperation agreement on technology and technical transfer, paving the way for further international collaboration.

The University of Sydney-Vietnam Institute paid a visit and worked with the Department of Anayltical and Drug Quality control, Faculty of Pharmacy, CTUMP.

The official contract was concluded to implement the project with The University of Sydney Vietnam Institute / FLIRT Project:

“Analysis of plasma levofloxacin concentrations in patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis to inform the redevelopment of a treatment regimen”

On 24 March 2023, the Faculty of Pharmacy, together with the leadership of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Quality Control Institute, signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen collaboration in training, scientific research, and the transfer of techniques and technologies.

In October 2024, technology transfer was carried out on the:

“Establishment of reference standards for related impurities of the active pharmaceutical ingredients glibenclamide, omeprazole, and fexofenadine”

In August 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy of CTUMP officially became a member of the Viet Nam Mass Spectrometry Laboratory Network.

On 14 December 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and Taka Consulting Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement covering: scientific research and publication, transfer of technical processes and technologies, development of pharmaceutical and health supplement products, and training and career orientation for students.
